A space to explore, understand and think together

Couple & Individual Psychotherapy

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and trainee psychosexual therapist based in Brighton and I work with couples and individuals in person and online.

Psychodynamic therapy can help you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. Psychosexual therapy explores the interplay between biological, psychological, and social aspects of our sexual experience.

In your therapy we will work together to try to make sense of your experiences and open up new ways of relating.

If you are interested in starting therapy, or if you would like to find out more, feel free to contact me via email or phone.

About Claire

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and trainee psychosexual therapist and have experience of providing therapy to couples and individuals from many different contexts and at many different life stages.

I completed my post-graduate psychotherapy training at Tavistock Relationships, an internationally renowned institution for couple psychotherapy, training and research.

In addition to working in private practice, I am a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships where I work with individuals and couples.

I hold a registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) where I am also a student member. I adhere to their professional code and ethical guidelines.

I am committed to offering a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you will be met with sensitivity, curiosity and empathy.

“Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived.”
M. Scott Peck

Therapy

Therapy with me can offer a space to help you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your internal world.

Together, at a pace which feels right for you, we can explore and make meaning of your experiences.

I provide a secure and confidential space to support and challenge you, helping you to think more deeply about what emerging unconscious patterns might mean.

With greater insight you can develop and find new ways of relating and living your life.

FAQs

How it Works

You can contact me via phone or email, and I will respond within 24 hours to arrange a brief 10-15 minute telephone conversation with you. During this call we can think about why you are seeking therapy and the kind of help you are looking for.

If it feels like the right way forward, we will arrange a time for an initial face-to-face or online consultation.

Initial Consultation

Starting psychotherapy is a commitment. Our initial consultation is an opportunity to think in depth together and decide whether working together on an ongoing basis feels right.

Finding the right therapist can take time and I may suggest that we meet for a number of initial sessions before you decide whether you would like to start regular therapeutic work.

Ongoing Therapy

Ongoing therapy sessions take place at the same time each week online or at my consulting room in Brighton. This helps to create a safe and reliable therapeutic environment to ‘frame’ our work together.

Once we make the decision to start working together in regular therapy, I make a commitment to keep our agreed appointment time available for you every week. This means that I will also ask you to pay for missed sessions, as they are kept open for you even in your absence.

I understand that family or work commitments can sometimes get in the way of a session time. Wherever possible, I will try to offer a replacement session during the same week at no additional cost, but unfortunately this might not always be possible.

If I cancel a session, you will, of course, not be charged.

Fees

The fee for the initial consultation and ongoing regular sessions is £60 for individuals and £90 for couples.

Once we make the decision to start working together in regular therapy, sessions are invoiced at the beginning of each calendar month.

How long will therapy take?

I do not usually set an end date to therapy. When you feel the time has come to end your therapy, I will suggest that we agree a date to end the work, so that we can review progress and look towards the future.

For different reasons, some clients prefer to have an end date in mind when starting therapy. We will be able to think about this in our initial consultation.
